LETS TALK: TBC
Join us on Thursday 9th June 2022 at 18:30 - 20:30 BST for our second event of the year!
We’re delighted that AKTII will be hosting our LFA event at their offices at the White Collar factory, No. 1 Old street, EC1Y 8AF right beside Old Street tube station.
Our keynote speaker is Anna Liu of Tonkin Liu and our Neil Pinder and Seyi Alabi are running our first 3 sustainbility workshops in schools leading up to the event. Outcomes will be shared at the event. Topic is “ Act- being a Sustainable Advocate for all”. We’re discussing where this begins with youth, nature, community, to make our profession more sustainable through diversity and inclusion. We also have Teri Okoro of TOCA and Danna Walker of Builtbyus on the panel and our Chair Annette Fisher is the moderator.
Anna Liu draws her definition of sustainability and advocacy from the environment: she says...
Step up, imagine, act, and call on nature as your mentor.
Design connects to nature in multiple ways.
1. community identity: evoking powerful symbols such as mountain, river, flower, ocean.
2. living elements: harnessing sunlight, rainfall, wind, as energy and as sensuous experience.
3. Biomimicry : learning from form, integrated systems, structural principles, using very little to achieve a lot.
Here's your chance to see first hand some of AKTII's highly acclaimed engineering masterpieces and their ethos aligns perfectly with the vision and mission of Let's build.
